The Society for Threatened Peoples (STP) is organizing a vigil in Stockholm to protest against the award ceremony in which Peter Handke will be honored with the Nobel Prize for Literature.

WHEN: Tuesday, 10 December 2019 – from 2 pm to 6 pm
WHERE: In front of the Konserthuset at Hötorget in Stockholm (south-west corner of Hötorget, at the intersection of Brogatan and Slöjdväge)

The STP will present a large banner demanding Handke to apologize to the survivors of the genocide crimes in Srebrenica and their relatives! Further, he should distance himself from the criminal regime of Slobodan Miloševi?.

In addition, the organizers of the award ceremony will be asked to hold a minute's silence for the genocide victims.

"The idea of honoring Peter Handke with the Nobel Prize for Literature is a disgrace for Sweden and all of Europe," stated Jasna Causevic, the STP’s expert on Southeast Europe. "The Swedish Academy is paying tribute to a genocide denier and apologist of war crimes – thus disrespecting the many victims and the traumatic experiences of the survivors of the genocide in Bosnia. If Handke had backbone, he would have to distance himself from the perpetrators and bow before the victims."

We would like to invite you and your colleagues from the picture editing teams to our human rights campaign.
