Focus on Roma inclusion: Strengthening partnerships between Ukraine and Germany

How can the rights and needs of Roma in Ukraine and Roma refugees from Ukraine in Germany be better protected? What steps are necessary to promote equal participation, combat antiziganism, and build sustainable partnerships?

These and other pressing questions will be the focus of the conference “Focus on Roma inclusion: Strengthening partnerships between Ukraine and Germany” on Monday, December 15, 2025, starting at 12:30 p.m. at the Protestant Academy in Berlin. Political decision-makers and representatives of civil society from Ukraine and Germany will come together to develop joint solutions.

Topics in focus:

  • Equal participation: How can Roma in Ukraine and Germany be better integrated into political and social structures so that their voices are heard, and their perspectives are taken into account?
  • Access to support programs in Ukraine and Germany: How can support for Roma communities directly affected by the war in Ukraine be improved?
  • Combating antiziganism: What strategies are needed to reduce discrimination and prejudice?
  • Sustainable partnerships: How can Ukraine and Germany work together in the long term to improve the situation of the Roma?

The conference is organized by the Youth Agency for the Advocacy of Roma Culture (ARCA) and the Central Council of German Sinti and Roma, in cooperation with the Society for Threatened Peoples (STP), the Ukrainian Roma Advocacy Alliance (AURA), and the Evangelischen Akademie zu Berlin. The event is supported by the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Ukrainian Women’s Fund.
